Plex announced today the addition of a new beta feature of Plex Web Shows to the Plex service, allowing Plex users to watch free web broadcasts without a media server or Plex subscription.

Plex Web Shows offers unlimited streaming and on-demand streaming of an organized selection of web shows on any device where Plex content is accessible.

When it launches, Plex plans to provide access to webcasts covering a variety of areas, such as food, home and garden, science and technology, entertainment, and more. On-the-go Web shows include Epic Meal Time, ASAPscience, Household Hacker, People are Awesome and The Pet Collective, as well as branded content such as GQ, Pitchfork and Epicurious.

Plex already provides access to free content including newscasts and podcasts, and webcasts will expand content that cordless cutters can get without a cable subscription.

According to Plex, Web Shows, such as Plex News and Plex Podcasts, will improve with use, with the service able to offer recommendations based on your interests and what you have seen before.

The new Web Shows feature, Plex News options, and Plex podcasts are available alongside personal media collections that Plex users can add to the Plex service.

Web Plex broadcasts are available on Plex starting today.
