US Vice President Mike Pence has a harsh word for Google about his involvement in the Dragonfly research platform, which would be under development for use in the Middle Kingdom.
Critics were voiced Thursday in a scathing speech against China that Veep delivered to the Hudson Institute, a Washington-based public policy organization. Shortly after applauding US companies for "looking further and further beyond the next quarter" and not complaining about customs duties levied by his administration on Chinese products, Pence dropped into the chocolate factory.
"Google should immediately halt the development of the Dragonfly app, which will strengthen the Communist Party's censorship and compromise the privacy of Chinese customers," Iron Mike said, amidst thunderous applause.
Dragonfly is Google's attempt to create a search engine that complies with the strict censorship rules of the continent. The controversial project would create a filtered search engine for Beijing while giving Google access to more than one billion potential customers on the continent.

China and Google have recently been at the center of the Trump government's concerns. China for escalating its trade war and Google for its perceived wrongs against Trump and his supporters.
The chocolate factory is far from the only company to compromise its morality to access the riches of China. Cisco has contributed to the establishment of the "Great Firewall" structure that supports China's huge Internet censorship machine, while Apple admitted to having removed confidentiality tools for Chinese citizens, claiming that compliance not a puncture of money.
Pence is not the first to trigger alarms on Google's work on Dragonfly. In August, the Googlers hoarded a petition against Google's management for agreeing to create the censored search engine.
Until now, however, Google has not yielded to the pressure. ®
