Skybound Games, a division of Skybound Entertainment by Robert Kirkman, announced today that it has acquired the rights to The Walking Dead: The Last Season of Telltale Games. "Let's finish the story of Clem!" they tweeted. "More details coming soon."

Kirkman, the creator of the original Walking Dead comic series, also spoke at a panel at New York's Comic Con, saying: "We have successfully negotiated with Telltale Games to have our Skybound company enter and sees Telltale season 4 game to completion. "

According to a Skybound statement cited by IGN, some of Telltale's former employees will be working there, perhaps a slight glimmer of hope for laid-off employees without severance pay. "Skybound will work with members of Telltale's original team to finish the story in the way that the fans deserve," they said. "Skybound will continue to inform fans of the state of the game on Skybound.com, Twitter and Facebook."

The second episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season was released last month, shortly after the announcement of the majority closure in Telltale, although it was removed from the sale on digital storefronts. Skybound has released several video games, including an adaptation of another Kirkman comedy, Thief of Thieves.
