The next massively multiplayer "Star Citizen" space game released its Alpha 3.3 update on Wednesday, bringing many additions, including the anticipated "face and voice over Internet" protocol that maps the facial expressions of players to their avatar in the game.

The new feature has been developed in conjunction with Faceware Technologies and works through the player's webcam. It is available to all players in the "Star Citizen" persistent test universe.

"Star Citizen" has also benefited from a major technological upgrade today with Object Container Streaming, a processing tool to control the amount of its huge gaming world that is loaded by the player's CPU. Technology is important because it allows for the rapid creation of future content and locations, said cloud developer Imperium Games.

"I am so proud of the team's work in providing all of our contributors with container streaming and IP face processing. These are both huge technical milestones and major elements of the core technology for "Star Citizen" and "Squadron 42" that we have been working on for over a year. The results of the Object Container Streaming tests have been excellent and we have seen a clear increase in the average frame rates of the clients and the use of the memory, some players even displaying three-digit frame rates ", said Chris Roberts, CEO of Cloud Imperium Games.

The Alpha 3.3 Update also adds 10 new vehicles and reworked vehicles, as well as several weapons and armor. They understand:

  • Anvil Valkyrie, a landing craft that allows players to easily deploy ground troops or vehicles over great distances. This ship marks one of the first times that "Star Citizen" players can get and fly a ship immediately after its announcement.
  • The Aegis Hammerhead, a capital support ship with many inhabited turrets for extra firepower when you want to take a hit with a party.
  • A complete redesign of the four variants of the Mustang Consolidated Outland, giving one of the distinctive versions of "Star Starter" iconic "departure ships" for light transportation, recognition, racing and dog fighting.
  • The RSI Constellation Phoenix, a luxury touring variant of the popular exploration vehicle, is endowed with all the necessary comforts, such as a hot tub and a piano.
  • Four variants of the Tumbril cyclone develop the use of this land vehicle in the fields of antiaircraft, reconnaissance, race and military.
  • A new pistol, the Kastak Arms Karna, a powerful assault rifle with firing capabilities loaded for extra firepower.
  • Two new Hurston Dynamics ship weapons that give players even more firepower.
