The Sensor Tower application analysis company discovers once again that Apple's iOS App Store continues to dominate the statistics generated by the business turnover, compared to the Google Play store, and its lead is growing.
In a report released Thursday by Sensor Tower, the company that tracks application downloads and revenues for nearly a decade continues to point to massive revenue growth in the App Store, led not only by gaming but also by the public services. Apple continues to grow its lead in terms of monetizing apps on Google. The App Store gained nearly 93% more than Google Play during the quarter.
The report notes that about 66% of mobile application revenue was generated by Apple, for a total of $ 12 billion. Google Play is also progressing, but not at the same pace as Apple, recording an increase of 21.5%, from $ 5.1 billion to $ 6.2 billion over the same period.
The gap between the two is "the biggest difference in revenue since at least 2014 between the two platforms," according to Sensor Tower.
However, Google holds the lead in the total number of installations. Google Play has grown from 17.1 billion application installations to 19.5 billion in one year, an increase of 14.3%. At the same time, Apple's facilities totaled $ 7.6 billion in the third quarter, up 3.1% from $ 7.3 billion in 2017.
In total, global consumer spending on the App Store and Google Play totaled $ 18.2 billion in the third quarter.
For the third consecutive quarter of the third quarter, Netflix was the most profitable mobile application in the world, generating revenue estimated at $ 243.7 million on both platforms through integrated subscriptions. "Honor of Kings" has retained the crown of the best income-generating application in the world.
"Pokemon Go" remains fifth in terms of revenue, with Fortnite peaking in ninth place, although it has not been on Google Play at all during the data collection period. .
