The "unsend" button of Facebook Messenger may be finally out.

Screenshots shared by Jane Manchun Wong, spotted for the first time by TechCrunch, from the Messenger app for Android, reveals that the company is making progress in adding the new feature to all its users.

Facebook had initially announced that it would add the "unsend" feature to everyone in April, after the messages that CEO Mark Zuckerberg had sent to other users had been removed from the users' inbox, while messages more old emails sent to Zuckerberg by users were still present.

Facebook was already allowing users to delete messages in a chat, but these deletions would only affect their end and would not delete the message from the recipient's inbox. Instagram, a property of Facebook, already has a "cancel sending" feature in its messages section that will remove the message from both inboxes, even messages from there's more than one year.

According to Wong, who previously uncovered the new features of Facebook and Instagram by viewing the respective apps code, the "unsend" button of Messenger only seems to be available for a set period of time after the message is sent by the user. # 39; user.

Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment from USA TODAY.

The news of the new feature comes as Facebook faces another controversy.

On Friday, the company revealed that 30 million people had seen their data stolen from hacking last month. Although this is an improvement over the 50 million users initially envisioned by the company, details of what was stolen are of greater concern. According to the company, the attackers stole sensitive personal information (e-mail addresses, phone numbers and location histories, for example) from nearly half of the users who could put them at serious risk.
