Epic Games announced that new tournaments in play would come to Fortnite: Battle Royale from tomorrow, October 16th.
There will be a new Events section in the game menu that will allow you to access the tournaments. Unlike major eSport events, these in-game tournaments will be accessible to everyone.
This means that all you have to do is register for a tournament to start the competition and win a brilliant pin. According to Epic, winning this brilliant pin in the future will pave the way for new tournaments.
Here's how these tournaments work:
- Everyone can join. As you play, you will be paired with players of a similar level based on your performance. This means that if you succeed, you will face tougher competition and if you do not succeed, it will become a little easier as you progress.
- Epic does not separate players with different controller entries. This means that you can find yourself competing with mouse and keyboard users as well as with touch screen players while you play with a PS4 gamepad.
- There will be different types of tournaments depending on the date and the day of the week (see below).
It's very simple, but honestly, I'm not sure to put all these types of controllers in the same tournament. The touch screen vs. the mouse and the keyboard is not right. Controller is a little more competitive, but only at very high skill levels.
In any case, here is the full tournament schedule for the rest of 2018:
- Alpha Tournament (Solo)
- Dates: October 16 – October 21
- Description: Participate in the first tournament of the game over several days of daily competition!
- Beta Tournament (Duo)
- Dates: October 23 – October 25
- Description: Catch a friend and fight the world – until you are the last two.
- Friday Night Fortnite (Team)
- Dates: from October 19th to November 30th
- Description: Join your friends every Friday and start your weekend with exciting team action.
- Salty Springs Cup (Solo)
- Dates: October 27 – October 31
- Description: A week and three attempts to prove you are the saltiest of Salty Springs.
- Tomato Temple Cup (Duo)
- Dates: October 28 to November 1
- Description: Become a legend of the cup of the tomato temple.
Epic Games also notes:
In the coming months, we will continue to develop tournament functionality to allow events to take place over multiple rounds, forcing players to get a pin to qualify for each subsequent round.
We work to establish an exciting and varied tournament calendar for players of all levels, with new score formats and support for additional modes.
Beginning at the end of the year, all eligible players will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup directly through a "Showdown Royale" event organized using the tournament's integrated tournament system. Thu.
This should be a fun way for more people to get involved in the competition. Fortnite play, similar to the different modes of Showdown we have seen in the past. Even if you are not the best player – and most of us are not! – this can be a good way to test your courage and have fun without too much pressure on the line.
