The film camera maker Red looks forward to Hydrogen A the phone has almost arrived – preorders are ready to be shipped this week – and I had a whirlwind night and day to photograph with this product before shipping it to our phone tester. The company warned us that the software was not quite finished yet and that it did have difficulties. But for the most part, it worked as expected.

The camera app does not offer raw files (at least not yet) and the "real" camera module will not be available for a moment. It features two 12 megapixel f / 1.8 rear cameras and two 8MP f / 2 selfie cameras – not for zooming, but for depth mapping to create H4V files for its 3D display.

In the interior

ISO 800, 1/125 sec. It took a little work for Kane to be immobile enough to shoot with a phone.

There is a simulated depth of field mode (below, the "background blur") that comes in but retains the same resolution. Standard framing (left) and framing in simulated depth of field mode (right). The mode works for everything, not just the faces, and when it is used in some scenes, it results in an effect of tilt-shift.

Selfie, ISO 1526, 1/20 sec. Dan did not realize that there was a physical trigger and that he was holding it as he moved the camera. Now I have hundreds of Dan selfies that have been automatically uploaded to Google Photos.

ISO 3059, 1/25 sec., Color saturation set to zero, HDR. I did not find the predefined effect in grayscale until the next day. I've used the color tools to produce a monochrome image.
