Microsoft releases a new preview of Windows 10 with the ability to uninstall other preinstalled applications

Microsoft today released a new preview of Windows 10 with the ability to uninstall more preinstalled apps, as well as improvements to the task manager, troubleshooter and narrator. This construction comes from branch 19H1, which will arrive in the first half of next year.

Windows 10 is developed as a service, which means that it regularly receives new features. Until now, Microsoft has released six major updates: November update, birthday update, creators update, fall creators update, update to day of April 2018 and update of October 2018.

In all these versions, Windows 10 users could only uninstall the following seven preinstalled applications: Microsoft Solitaire Collection, My Desktop, OneNote, 3D Print, Skype, Tips, and Weather. With this release, Microsoft adds another 10: 3D Viewer (formerly known as Mixed Reality Viewer), Calculator, Calendar, Groove Music, Messaging, Movies & TV Shows, 3D Painting, Snip & Sketch, Sticky Notes, and Voice Recorder.

Personally, I use the calculator and the voice recorder quite regularly, but the rest can disappear. You can uninstall them via the context menu in the All Applications list on the Start menu.

The Task Manager has created a new optional column in the Task Manager Details tab: DPI Sensitivity (add it by right-clicking one of the column headers and choosing Select Columns). As you might expect, it will show you which running applications are DPI-compatible.

Then Windows 10 got a new recommended troubleshooting setting (Settings => Update and Security => Troubleshoot). The feature uses diagnostic data that you have sent to provide a custom set of fixes that address the issues that Microsoft has detected on your device. Previously, you had to find the right troubleshooter and manually follow all the steps to solve the problem.

As for the Narrator, he can now read the following sentence (Caps + Ctrl +.), The current sentence (Caps + Ctrl +,) and the previous sentence (Caps + Ctrl + M). Reading by sentence is available with the keyboard and with the touch, although it does not work yet for braille.

Bug fixes and known issues

This 19H1 release includes the following general bug fixes and enhancements:

• Fixed a problem resulting in the removal of application history in Task Manager during the last flight.
• Fixed a problem related to the previous flight. The task manager icon in the notification area of ​​the taskbar was not visible while the task manager was open.
• Fixed a problem resulting in the potential failure of the upgrade to the previous flight with the error 0xC1900101. This same problem could result in Office products not launching, services not starting, and / or your login credentials not being accepted on the login screen after the first update. level until reboot.
• Fixed a problem that caused settings to hang on recent flights if, in Easy Access, you clicked "Apply" on Enlarge Text.
• Issue resolved: The latest flights settings could hang when checking for updates or applying an updated active time range.
• Issue resolved: Notepad was not listed on the Set Application Defaults page in Settings.
• When you add a new language in the settings, you now have separate options for installing the language pack and setting the language as the Windows display language. There are also separate options for installing voice recognition and text-to-speech features, when these features are available for the language.
• Updated the Printers and Scanners page in Settings to now include a link directly to the Troubleshooter, if you need it
• Some insiders may notice changes in the history of the clipboard.
• Fixed a problem causing the file explorer to start if it was not called from a startup mosaic pinned in tablet mode.
• Fixed a problem that sometimes causes the brightness to reset to 50% after a reboot.

Today's update removes the Windows 10 build number from the 18252 19H1 branch (made available to testers on Oct. 3) to build 18262.

This version has five known issues:

• Settings hang when calling actions on certain pages. This affects several settings, including various links in the Windows Security section.
• Some users may have a problem launching Inbox applications after the update.
• Switching audio endpoints from the volume pull-down menu on the taskbar does not work.
• The task view does not display the + button under New Desktop after creating two virtual desktops.
• If you install one of the recent versions of the fast ring and switch to the slow ring, the optional content such as developer mode activation will fail. You will need to stay in the Quick Ring to add / install / activate optional content. Indeed, the optional content installs only on approved versions for specific rings.
