At midnight tonight, Apple's pre-orders for Apple's iPhone XR will open. Deliveries are expected to begin only a week later, on October 26th. Analysts predict that Apple could sell more than 38 million XR units during the single vacation quarter of 2018.
What makes the iPhone XR so attractive is that it offers market users an upgrade to a brand new form factor at a relatively reasonable price. While the iPhone X of last year had started at $ 999, the price of entry for the iPhone XR was $ 749. Plus, the only features that iPhone XR buyers actually give up are an OLED display and support for the 3D Touch feature. Other minor differences include the fact that the XR has an aluminum frame, as opposed to a stainless steel frame, and a ceiling slightly lower than LTE speeds.
While pre-orders for the iPhone XR were due to be released later in the day, Apple lifted its embargo this afternoon on customer reviews.
