Previously, Ming-Chi Kuo, a trusted analyst at Apple, had hinted that the iPad Pro 2018 models would abandon the Lightning connectivity for the benefit of USB-C. Then last week, we reported that the USB-C switch would enable features like 4K video output, and so on.
Macotakara said it has spoken this week to many accessory manufacturers at Global Sources Mobile Electronics in Hong Kong. The consensus was that the iPad Pro 2018 would feature USB-C instead of Lightning. Of course, the accessories manufacturers are not always the most reliable source of details about the next Apple, but the Macotakara report is only the latest in suggesting USB-C support for the upgrade. iPad Pro day of this year.
Regarding the dimensions of this year's iPad Pro with USB-C, Macotakara cites a rendition that was originally released on Slash Leaks last week. Probably based on the patterns of the supply chain, this rendering shows the largest model of 12.9 inches measuring 280.66 mm in height and 215.00 mm in width. For comparison, the iPad Pro of the current generation measures 305.7 mm on 220.6 mm.
Meanwhile, the Slash Leaks rendering suggests that the smaller model measures 274.64 mm tall and 178.52 mm wide. Interestingly, it is slightly larger than the current 10.5-inch iPad Pro, which measures 250.6mm on 174.1mm.
According to Macotakara, these dimensions seem to be those on which accessory manufacturers base their products from now on.
The refresh of the iPad Pro 2018 should be unveiled later this month at the special event of Apple. The event was announced today and will be held on October 30 in Brooklyn, New York. Apple has teased the event with a tag line "There is still a lot to do".
