The Ford GT made the headlines two years ago, not only because of its surprise unveiling, but also because you had to go through Ford's selective bid process before you even got the chance to buy one. I guess if you missed the first 1,000 GTs, you'll have another chance with the news that Ford is planning to build.

Ford announced today the construction of another 350 GT for the 2019 model year (as their popularity was "unprecedented"). The application window will be reopened on November 8th for 30 days. You can submit yours here.

And Ford would also increase the price of the car, according to Road & Track:

The MSRP for the first models built was around $ 450,000, but Ford told us it would increase to about $ 500,000 for the 2019 model year. When pushed, Ford will not reveal an exact MSRP , but only an estimate.

GT production was originally scheduled to end in October 2020, but several setbacks have delayed it. With 350 new cars under construction, Ford said GT production could continue in 2022.

When Ford announced the GT for the first time, it announced that it would build only 500 vehicles. He has added 500 and now he adds 350 more, bringing the current total to 1,350 cars.

That's why, when a manufacturer says it will only build the XYZ number of Super Exclusive, exclusive car models, you do not always have to stick to that. It's not as if cars were made from a precious natural resource that was running out fast; the plant can simply produce more, ideally when people with sufficient financial means come forward.

Why do not they just keep on selling John Cena's Ford GT? This thing makes enough money by itself. It generated the GDP of a small country at this stage.
