Last week, OnePlus announced the unveiling of the highly anticipated OnePlus 6T on Tuesday, October 30 – just over five months after the launch of OnePlus 6. Unfortunately, Apple has decided that October 30 would be the desired date to hold its next event, where we are waiting for the next iPad Pro to be unveiled. Fearing to be overshadowed, OnePlus decided to move its event until October 29th.
For example, OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau, went to the community forums on Friday to explain his decision. He revealed that he and his team had contacted members of the press asking how the two events could overlap. They were told that sticking to their original schedule would not be a prudent decision.
"We're moving the event a day early so we can all experience the latest technology together," Lau explained.
OnePlus knows that this will affect hundreds of people who have booked flights and purchased tickets for the event, but if you can not do so because of the change, you will be able to request a full refund. On the other hand, if you can still organize the event but need to change your plans, OnePlus will "cover all the costs you could incur to change your plans." That means flight changes or an extra night in a hotel: OnePlus will pay for it.
"We hope you understand our decision," Lau said. "If you want to help us get the word out and make it our biggest event to date, we would be extremely grateful if you could share the news with other OnePlus subscribers. As we grow, we will continue to launch a common challenge for this industry. We can not wait to unveil the OnePlus 6T. It will be a big week in New York.
