With balanced and precise controls, reactive, SoulCalibur VI also benefits from the picturesque addition of Reversal Edge and Lethal Hit techniques. With Reversal Edge, you engage in a slow battle where the next hit can make all the difference, depending on where you land it. You can also opt out if you feel that your contact is not the best choice available.
On top of that, Lethal Hit sends your opponent flying through the air, where you can choose different techniques to juggle additional moves. It's a bit like Marvel vs. CapcomThe Air Combat Starter allows you to hit them a few more times before landing and trying to dive back.
Both of these abilities may take some time to master. But once you do, you will find that they are good additions to this series as a whole – and that they are quite addictive, particularly sequential.
As for the characters, SoulCalibur VI One of the best fights we've seen in a game. There is a varied collection of brawlers here, as well as new favorites and new faces. But honestly, everything is about Geralt of Rivia's The witcher right here. This is the best guest character we've seen in the show since Link's invasion. SoulCalibur II Back on the GameCube. Yes, Geralt is so good.
The gameplay is enough for fans to get into SoulCaliburbut it's the abundance of fashions that they will really appreciate. With Arcade and Online options, SoulCalibur VI also offers a story mode in which you play selected characters in a number of scenarios. It's a well done mode with a strong voice, but I would have liked to have more cut-scenes of quality in this one, instead of stoic still images.
Mission mode is also great because you can perform different tasks, collect new weapons and other bonuses along the way, while skirmishing with familiar enemies. This one will keep you busy for a while, especially if you are a player of the "collectathon" type.
The only drawback is that the Internet is not as good as it could be. Of course, you can connect to certain games, but it will take time. And those of you who use the Xbox One version are probably aware that if you use an older system, games can be very time consuming. loooooong the time to charge. Multiply that by two with online. Fingers crossed, Bandai Namco finds a solution, and soon.
Finally, there is something to say about the game's customization engine. You may have already seen some beautiful examples of what players can do with it. It's remarkable and you'll keep busy for a while while you create your favorite – and not so much – favorite characters. It's worth tinkering with, even if character customization is not usually your forte. (We even saw a Ronald McDonald demon in creations created up here … yoinks.)
As for the presentation … wow. Just wow. i thought Tekken 7 would be the most technically impressive game of Bandai Namco this generation but SoulCalibur VI is incredibly polite. The sets are simply breathtaking, as are the stage sets, ranging from desecrated castle grounds to dark, sinister grottoes to shiny hills where it is almost too peaceful to fight. (I said almost.)
This, combined with solid light effects, breathtaking animation and beautiful patterns SoulCalibur VI the best game in the series – if not one of the best games for this generation.
That said, it is worth mentioning again the old problem of the Xbox One, if only because the game is not fully optimized for this format. It still works fine, but, again, it is a problem that I hope Bandai Namco will respond as soon as possible. If you are on PC, Xbox One X or PS4, you should be good.
SoulCalibur VIThe music is also excellent, using the same melodic style as the one used in previous games and raising it up a notch with symphonic tributes. They are backed and supported by strong voices, including Doug Cockle, of Witcher, giving Geralt life as he can. Certainly set the volume for this one.
Technical blunders in the Xbox One version and apart from the lack of animated cinematics, SoulCalibur VI has pretty much everything that a fanatic fighter or a big fan of the series would like. Fights are sharp and exciting, especially when you are moving with the new abilities. The game has an excellent appearance and sound, especially on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X (or PC, with a high-end configuration). And the extras are plentiful, with much more content than you'd expect in a game like this.
It may take a while before we feel this Soul burn again (it really depends on the success of the game, noted the editor), so we recommend that you SoulCalibur VI. It's still burning, and my boy, it's a hot time.
