Even before the launch of their 2018 phones by Apple and Google, we suspected that new iPhones would crush Pixel 3 phones during speed and performance testing. This is because Apple launches more and more chips every year and the competition is struggling to keep up. This does not help Google rely on Qualcomm chips rather than on its internal designs. Now that the iPhone XS and the Pixel 3 are finally available to buyers, we know exactly how much the A12 Bionic is faster than the Snapdragon 845. There is no contest, See for yourself. And the iPhone XS will humiliate the Pixel 3 during similar tests, just as hard as the iPhone XS.
The iPhone XR may have a lower screen and camera than its XS brother, but all 2018 iPhones offer the same performance, thanks to this super-fast A12 Bionic chip. The iPhone XR only has 3GB of RAM, which is as much memory as the iPhone X, and 1GB less than the iPhone XS and Pixel 3 models. But that does not mean that it will not exceed all 2018 Android handsets, including Pixel 3 phones.
Only the selected reviewers were able to test the iPhone XR in the week before it was launched. Therefore, we do not have any speed test videos to show you. But Tom's Guide tested the performance of the iPhone XR in Geekbench 4, where he scored 11312, which is slightly lower than the XS and XS Max. In the 3DMark Slingshot Extreme Unlimited graphics performance test, the iPhone XR scored 4416, compared with 4396 for the Pixel 3 XL and 4639 for the Galaxy Note 9.
The iPhone XR was also responsible for editing a 4K clip in Full HD, an intensive task that required 40 seconds, a second more than the iPhone XS. The Pixel 3 XL did the same job in 2:42 minutes, while the Galaxy S9 + and the OnePlus 6 needed 2:32 and 3:45 minutes, respectively.
When it came to opening games, the iPhone XR needed 12.3 seconds to open Tekken, while the Pixel 3 XL did it in 21 seconds. The iPhone XR has loaded Asphalt 9 in 4.98 seconds and the Pixel 3 XL in 6.4 seconds.
The conclusion is quite simple, by Tom's Guide:
No surprise here: the A12 Bionic processor on the iPhone XR is as fast as the iPhone XS and XS Max, which means you get a phone that beats the best Android flagship for hundreds of dollars less. I loved the silky performance when playing AR Blast augmented reality thinking game, which involves photographing colored blocks in front of you. In addition, other people can participate in the AR action to have fun in multiplayer, which you can not do on Android (at least not yet).
Whenever these speed tests appear on YouTube, expect the iPhone XR to crush all its competitors, including the Pixel 3.
