Oh, the Google Pixel 3 and XL. Although they are our favorite Android phones on the market, these two phones are absolutely not perfect. Unfortunately, some deplorable users have had many software and / or hardware issues. We want to know: are you among them?
As summarized and discussed in yesterday's Alphabet Scoop, Pixel 3 and 3XL are not without flaws. First of all, there are many complaints about the aggressive management of Pixel 3 memory, which often kills background applications, especially when using the camera. The aggressive elimination of background applications largely explains why the Pixel 3 XL has been criticized by the iPhone XS Max during a recent speed test.
These memory problems can also be causing an even more critical problem with all the Pixel device generations. Some users reported that their phone sometimes did not record photos. This is totally unacceptable for a camera whose camera is the main feature.
Another problem with the camera is the poor audio recording quality of pixels 3 and 3 XL. Google says that it works as expected, the device attempting to filter out unwanted noises like wind or traffic. The results seem to be quite the opposite, giving sometimes inaudible videos. Fortunately, it turned out to be a software problem because the AR Playground mode does not have the same problems.
Some users also had display problems, ranging from minor issues such as a black crush (gray being indistinguishable from black), pink hues on the smaller pixel 3, to spontaneous pink lines.
There is also the case of the "easily scratchable" glass back of Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. According to our personal tests, we believe that it is not a problem and that most of the "scratches" disappear easily. However, some have always reported that their camera received deeper scratches.
Google knew, to some extent, that Pixel 3 devices could never be perfect. The company even took into account by including in each phone a tool for returning information directly to Google. If your device has a problem, I strongly advise you to also use this tool to report your problems.
Do you have problems?
That being said, which of these problems did you encounter on your device, if any?
