It's only a matter of hours, less than 48, in fact, until Apple reveals everything at its event "There is more to do" in Brooklyn. Although the broad outlines of what will be announced have been clear for a while, more and more details have been released almost daily.
As today 's revelation from Guilherme Rambo to eagle eyes to 9to5Mac who can read the internal code codes more effectively than I can read the time.
Previously, he had spotted an icon in a 12 beta version of iOS that suggested a fully screen design, almost without a bezel.
He then found a line of code that seemed to confirm that there was no home button on the next iPad.
Oh, Guilherme, that surely means you've torn every drop of code revelation, surely?
But no.
A few days ago, he spotted something that solves one of the mysteries of the rumors about the iPad Pro. This was how Face ID could possibly be on a tablet that, at least from time to time, would be in landscape orientation.
If you have ever tried to unlock an iPhone X by keeping it aside, you would know that it can not be done. If the iPad Pro is in fake laptop mode with a keyboard, what should you do? Do you rotate your head, like a loonie, every time you want to go back to work? Rambo found the answer and revealed it in his Twitter feed.
So, that's going to work in the landscape too. Versatile!
However, note that this does not mean that you will be able to do the same on the iPhone even after a software update. And he explains that you need to configure Face ID in portrait mode before it works in other orientations.
And now, at 9to5Mac, Guilherme has added to its list of exclusives for the site. In the iOS software is an image that shows the iPad Pro with the most details ever seen.
The previous iOS index was a tiny icon to use in the Battery widget.
But now, much more is visible.
The new icon developed by Rambo shows a simple graphic, but, damn, does that bode well for an amazing tablet? There is no notch, probably because the top bezel is large enough to accommodate the TrueDepth camera sensor, which fits perfectly on the screen.
The bezel is certainly thick, but being an icon, it can be descriptive rather than perfectly accurate. Personally, I do not expect it to be as thick as that on the actual physical object.
And note that there are two other elements sketched on this icon: the pair of volume buttons and the sleep / wake button. Both are in positions identical to those where they are on the current iPads.
Some were surprised that the sleep / wake button did not slip on the long side of the device like on the iPhone. But to imagine that happening is to misunderstand Apple.
The sleep / wake button was moved to the side of the iPhone when the phone became bigger and it had to be as easy to reach as possible, especially if you're using the phone at a hand.
There is no similar need on a tablet and Apple always has ergonomics in mind. The only reason this could move, I would say, is to invoke Siri. But, physically, there is very little difference between the gesture required for the tablet's interaction between the top buttons and those on the side.
Finally, Guilherme thinks there will be a new Apple pencil, also revealed on Twitter.
I think it's okay and the only reason there was no leak is because it looks the same (except for a USB-C connector hidden under the cap , probably). He will support the actions, he believes, as you can see below.
Not long to wait now.
