Fortnite was launched on Nintendo Switch in June, right in the middle of the E3, and the popular Royal Battle Game is unexpectedly a huge hit on the Nintendo Hybrid console. Now, Nintendo has revealed more details about the popularity of the game on Switch.
In a profit report, Nintendo revealed that Fortnite had been installed on "nearly half" of all Nintendo Switch consoles in the world. As of September 30, Nintendo had sold 22.86 million Switch units, which means that Fortnite is downloading about 11 million of them.
Although this is a huge number, Fortnite is a free game, the most important data point is the game time and the amount of spending on its various microtransactions. Nintendo has only stated that "many people" were playing at Fortnite on Switch, which "increases the overall usage rate of Nintendo Switch".
Nintendo added that the Switch Edition of Fortnite is compelling because it is playable on the move via the tablet controller. Of course, the mobile editions of Fortnite for iOS and Android are also portable, but the PS4 and Xbox One editions are less portable.
Fortnite's next major update has been delayed, but in the meantime, you can check out the new, time-limited Halloween-themed event called Fortnitemares.
