Here are the main features of the iPhone XR

The newly released iPhone XR by Apple is the most economical flagship iPhone. AppleInsider breaks down the nine main features of this colorful device to show why it deserves your attention.

Liquid Retina Screen

Apple has integrated the all-new LCD Liquid Retina as a display screen on the iPhone XR. It may be an LCD rather than the OLED screen of the XS / XS Max, but it's still beautiful.

The colors burst because it supports the wide range of P3 colors, and Apple claims that it is the most accurate LCD display on the market.

It's also incredibly broad for the Apple's entry-level iPhone, with a size of 6.1 inches, a larger size than the iPhone XS and the largest screen LCD that Apple has ever included on an iPhone. It remains the 6.5-inch OLED of the XS Max, but it's still a large screen.

The Liquid Retina screen is also the first LCD screen to incorporate the Tap to Wake feature. Last but not least, it even supports True Tone for subtle adjustments depending on the ambient light of the environment.

One-shot portrait mode

The photos in portrait mode have taken off and are one of the most used features of the iPhone X and its dual camera system.

For the iPhone XR, Apple includes only one lens, but it is still possible to reproduce the effect of Portrait mode via software and its upgraded Neural Engine engine.

With a single camera, the iPhone XR can detect a person's face, and then separate it from the background, applying a subtle bokeh effect to anything but the subject. It can even be adjusted afterwards thanks to Apple's depth control feature, which helps refine blur and bokeh.

Symmetrical ports

Talk about little touches, but the iPhone XR has symmetrical ports on the bottom of the device. On each side of the Lightning port, six circles are used for the speaker or microphone.

On the iPhone XS / XS Max, there are four circles to the left of the Lightning port and seven to the right.

The features do not change, but it brings a good balance to the phone.

Colorful finishes

In the same vein as the iPhone 5C, Apple has released the iPhone XR with some color options. The glass back and metal frame are brightly colored for fun pop.

The glass uses a deep seven-layer color process to achieve a rich finish. The exclusive aluminum alloy to Apple is anodized to perfection.

Color options include white, black, blue, yellow, coral and (RED) RED.

Lightweight aluminum frame

Buyers of the iPhone X, XS and XS Max will experience the heavy stainless steel chassis on which their phone is built.

For the XR, Apple has opted for a custom aluminum alloy of aeronautical quality with a matte finish. It keeps the phone exceptionally light and durable while still being able to show off those brightly colored finishes.

Exclusive wallpapers

Each of the new color options of the iPhone XR comes with custom wallpapers, matching the colors of their exterior.

Our blue model, for example, features a bright blue screen background. These wallpapers look great and are only delivered with the XR. The good news is that each iPhone XR comes with all the color variations of the two main wallpaper patterns, for a total of 12 wallpapers with which no other iPhone is delivered.

Haptic touch

Instead of 3D Touch, the iPhone XR replicates the experience using what Apple calls "Haptic Touch". Instead of having a 3D detection screen, a long press simulates the effect. Each time you press and hold an applicable item, a similar tactile 3D action is executed and the phone emits a slight vibration.

There are certainly limits, for example, you can not use the Haptic Touch home screen icons to view widgets and actions, but you can still access the widgets in the Control Center .

Apple has announced that this feature will develop over time, showing in other places that 3D Touch previously existed, such as the aforementioned widgets and preview links.

Battery life

Of all iPhones sold by Apple, the iPhone XR displays the most impressive battery performance. Apple claims to be able to reach up to 25 hours of wireless talk time, 15 hours of internet browsing and 16 hours of video playback.

These statistics place the XR over iPhone XS and XS Max in terms of battery longevity.

Price
