While Samsung remained silent on the foldable Galaxy phone until now, during a visit to an exclusive media R & D center in Seoul, Samsung dropped some hints about it. Apparently, Samsung does not want the "foldable" aspect of the screen to be the only asset of the phone. In fact, for Samsung, the focus has been on including features that allow the user to get the most out of his foldable screen.
"Making a foldable screen is not enough. This just gives a bigger screen. We are focusing more on the features that users should get when they unfold the device, "said Harksang Kim, senior vice president and head of mobile visual display research and development at Samsung Electronics.
Meanwhile, Samsung has confirmed that the foldable software
Galaxy X will offer indeed the largest screen-to-screen ratio of the market. Essentially, this means that users can simply expect to carry in their pockets a foldable glass screen with virtually no cover that gives the impression of a traditional phone.
Samsung also informed that the company has been working on this foldable smartphone for over four years. Besides the foldable display itself, the challenge has been to house the battery, camera module and other internal hardware. About the camera, it is possible that Samsung adds a single camera module to the Galaxy foldable phone. Indeed, as the device is collapsible, the same camera can be used to click on photos or selfies by simply flipping the phone.
The foldable Galaxy smartphone could offer a 7-inch screen and, curiously, this screen might not necessarily fold in half. Samsung could have made sure to fold it in two thirds to allow the top of the screen to display notifications, battery, time and other information.
