Amazon drop $ 25 free shipping minimum for holidays

NEW YORK – Amazon is following Target and is temporarily abandoning the minimum amount that buyers must spend in order to benefit from free shipping.

Generally, Amazon buyers must spend $ 25 to benefit from free shipping or pay $ 119 per year for a premium subscription. Amazon's offer, which began on Monday, applies to hundreds of millions of items and orders arrived in time for Christmas. Buyers who are not Premium members will have a slower shipment, which can take five to eight days.

Retailers are fighting over vacation buyers, who are expecting more and more for fast, free delivery. Target dropped its minimum purchase amount last week, offering hundreds of thousands of items to the day of free shipping until December 22nd. Walmart, which offers a free two-day delivery on orders over $ 35, told reporters after the announcement plans to change its shipping policy.

Amazon also announced Monday that it has increased the number of items and places where Premium members can benefit from a free delivery the same day.
