A strange Pokemon appears in Pokemon Go and no one knows what it is [Update]

The last community day of Pokemon Go took place last weekend and, in the opinion of all, it was a fairly standard event. However, something rather unusual happened just after the end of the community day: a strange and never seen Pokemon appeared briefly in nature.[[[[Update: The Pokemon company has confirmed the new unusual monster, and its name is Meltan.]

In each region, an unidentified Pokémon began to swarm immediately after the end of the event. Nobody knows what kind of monster it is; it was discovered for the first time in the game files just before the community day by dataminer Chrales, but it was listed with the name Kecleon – a Pokemon chameleon introduced for the first time in Gen 3 and Ruby and Sapphire games.

The strange monster, which you can see below, appeared in the wild for exactly 30 minutes after Community Day, after which it disappeared just as suddenly as it debuted. Niantic has not officially recognized the new Pokémon, but it looks most like Ditto, but with what appears to be a golden nut for a head.

In addition, when the strange Pokémon was captured, it would turn out to be Ditto. Some players have also reported that the new monster would turn into Chikorita – the Pokémon featured at the September Community Day – or the aforementioned Kecleon during its capture.

It remains to be seen whether this has or does not relate to the changing Pokemon, but it is considerably smaller than Ditto, so it is unlikely to be an evolution. With a few minor exceptions – for example, Bellossom is much smaller than Gloom – the size of Pokemon generally increases as they evolve.

While the next Pokemon games: Let's Go, Pikachu and Let's Go, Eevee for Nintendo Switch will only feature the original 151 Pokemon (plus their Alolan variants), The Pokemon Company had previously claimed that players could get a Pokémon Flip the games to Pokemon Go. It remains to be seen whether or not this is the Pokémon in question, but we will probably learn more soon, because these games are scheduled for November 16.
