While most of the rumors surrounding Apple concern the iPhone XR, the company has also introduced a new accessory in its range for the Apple watch. Spotted for the first time by 9to5 Mac, a USB-C charger for the smartwatch is currently listed on the Apple website and will be available from 24 October.

Featuring a 0.3 meter cable and a sale price of $ 29, the new Apple Watch charger looks nothing like its predecessors. You can now buy an Apple Watch Charger compatible with current MacBook models, except for the MacBook Air.

This news comes a day after Apple's announcement of invitations to its hardware event on October 30, during which the company is expected to launch its new iPad Pro as well as new Mac models. Although rumors have not yet been confirmed, it was reported that the iPad Pro would also abandon the Lightning port for USB-C – but we will have to wait until the end of the month for concrete information.

The new charger also arrives just in time for those who bought an Apple Watch after the release of the Apple Watch Series 4, with some new features. With a 30% larger screen and a redesigned modular watch dial, users can see more detailed information such as inventory, heart rate, track scores, and more. The smartwatch can also control your heart rate in the background and send you a notification if it detects an irregular rhythm – which could indicate atrial fibrillation.

The life of the battery of the series 4 remains the same, with an autonomy of 18 hours all day. Apple has increased the outdoor training time to 6 hours, with full GPS tracking for long bike rides. During our review of the smartwatch, we found that with notifications only turned on and off overnight, the device could last almost 24 hours – but without GPS, followed by physical or cellular fitness.

Regarding the new USB-C charger, 9to5Mac indicates that it will not charge your Apple Watch faster than the Type-A because the induction charger located at the back of the Apple Watch remains the same. But it will be much more convenient for those who use their MacBook as a power source.
