According to Apple, the explosions on the iPhone X are not expected during the updates for iOS 12.1

An iPhone X would have exploded while it was completing an update for iOS 12.1, according to a new report based on comments posted on social networks.

Technical Blog 360 Gadgets shared the following tweet from Rocky Mohamadali, who claims that his iPhone X burned while he was plugged into an official Apple charger while it was moving to iOS 12.1.

Apple responded to Mohamadali's tweet, saying that it was "an absolutely unexpected behavior" and encouraging him to contact him for a more in-depth investigation.

The site says that he told them, "This year, early January, I bought the iPhone and I use it normally. Dark gray smoke started to come out of the phone. The update is complete and as soon as the phone is turned on, he started smoking and catching fire. "

As always with the so-called "exploding phones", it is important to note that, even if this is the headlines, many, if not most, are isolated incidents, or even hoaxes. In the past, it was known that people were making extreme efforts, for example by putting their phones in the microwave, to create a storm in social media – although there is no indication at this stage that Mohamadali's claim is false. .

There is also no solid evidence that Apple's hardware actually exploded, due to a failure of a particular iPhone X unit or external circumstances.

Problems such as this one had not affected the iPhone X in the past – the only confirmed case of an "explosive phone problem" remains that of the unfortunate Galaxy Note 7 – and has since been stopped by Apple for strategic reasons, having supplanted by the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max at the top of its range of smartphones.
