According to rumors, Samsung will soon launch smartphones with optical impression sensors

Samsung could introduce its screen-based fingerprint technology earlier than expected in the Galaxy P30 and P30 +, rather than the Galaxy S10, an unnamed Chinese source told SamMobile.

SamMobile speculates that the Galaxy P30 and P30 + may include optical sensors under their LCD screens, reserving the Qualcomm ultrasonic sensors to the Galaxy S10. This would allow Samsung to deploy a device with a built-in sensor without waiting for the Galaxy S10, and keep its options open for future smartphones.

Qualcomm fingerprint sensor technology, which uses a Precise Biometrics matching algorithm, has long been planned for the Galaxy S10 and is also included in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.

Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors have appeared on high-end smartphones for some time, and Apple has received patents for ultrasonic sensors and a screen-based fingerprint system earlier this year.

SamMobile notes that Samsung has announced that it will introduce more new technologies on midrange devices before implementing them on its flagship products.
