Amazon Introduces New Fire Stick TV 4K and Alexa Voice Remote – TechCrunch

You would be forgiven if you thought that Amazon had finished announcing new material after the massive Echo event last month. The distribution giant has at least some more ads in its sleeve, starting with updates to the Fire TV line. The new 4K TV Stick and the new remote Alexa Voice Remote are available for pre-order today.

At $ 50, the refitted Fire TV Stick 4K includes a new quad core processor, which enables faster streaming and fast loading. The updated TV Dongle also adds Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and provides access to 500,000 movies / TV shows, a range of applications and a Alexa voice interface via Echo Remote or nearby.

The news follows Roku's recent decision to reduce the cost of its 4K-compatible streamers with its new Premiere line of players at $ 40 and up.

There is also a new Alexa voice remote on the block. The new device looks much more like a universal remote than its predecessor. The device is equipped with Bluetooth technology and multidirectional infrared, allowing users to control their TVs, AV equipment and cable boxes.

There are buttons for power, volume and mute, but the voice is really the thing here, of course. It is compatible with just about every Amazon Fire product. It is included in the Fire TV Stick 4K package at $ 40 or comes with the Fire TV cube for $ 120. You can also buy it solo for $ 30.

The TV Stick 4K is starting to ship for Halloween in the United States and Canada. He will arrive in the UK, Germany and India in November and Japan before the end of the year.
