Amazon offers a free echo point for its new Alexa skills

Attempting to encourage new Alexa developers, Amazon is offering a new Echo Dot to novices who successfully publish an Alexa skill this month.

According to Amazon, more than 20,000 Alexa skill developers have registered with the company and more than 50,000 skills are already certified. In its quest for the dominance of intelligent voice assistants for the home, Amazon continues to add tools to the Alexa Skills toolkit and facilitates the creation of new skills for developers and consumers.

The new Developer Skills Promotion is Amazon's latest initiative to encourage engagement with the platform, recruit new developers, and add a significant number of new skills to its libraries.

Amazon will not give you or anyone else any new third-generation Echo Dot only for trying or for poorly written and unimportant skill. Timing matters too.

To receive a free Echo Dot from Amazon, new skills must be published in the Alexa Skill Store between October 15 at 12:01 pm and October 31, 2018 at 11:59 pm. The times are in Pacific time zone.

Amazon encourages the first submissions of skills in the ad.

Any new American developer is eligible to participate in the Echo Dot promotion for Alexa developers. It will be a popular promotion. Please submit your skills as soon as possible to the certification. We realize that some developers may need additional support from our certification team. If your skill is still in certification on October 31st, we will give you until November 15th to complete the certification.

The promotion is open only to US residents, but you can publish the skill in any country.

There is no limitation on the types of skills for this promotion. If you have an idea for a functional skill, an informational skill, an intelligent home skill, jokes or just something random and stupid, it's just, as long as it meets certification standards from the Alexa store.

Amazon is also specific to defining a new developer.

To be considered a new developer, it must act from the first skill published in the Alexa Skill Store, either through the developer's console or a third-party tool provider right from the beginning of the period promotional.

The announcement of the promotion includes other specific conditions regarding the form and methods of submitting your skill and filling out the form for free Echo Dot. The free product form is only valid after the publication of your skill.
