AMD has launched two sets of "Ryzen MAX" processors in limited edition for the holidays. The California-based chip maker offers kits with its Ryzen 5 2600X hexa-core processor and its Ryzen 7 2700 octa-core processor.
The standard Ryzen 5 2600X comes with the Wraith Spire processor cooler, while the Ryzen 7 2700 comes with the Wraith Spire LED processor cooler. The new Ryzen 5 2600X MAX (YD260XBCAFMAX) and Ryzen 7 2700 MAX (YD2700BBAFMAX) kits come with the beefier Wraith Max chiller.
The Wraith Max cooler is designed for heat dissipation up to 200 W, which will allow users to take advantage of the AMFR XFR2 (Extended Frequency Range 2) technology and provide greater flexibility for 39; overclocking. As a result, consumers do not have to pay extra money to buy a secondary heat sink.
UK computer hardware retailer Scan Computers sells the non-MAX versions of the Ryzen 5 2600X and Ryzen 7 2700 priced at £ 199.99 and £ 270.49, respectively. The MAX versions are offered at £ 221.99 and £ 285.49, which is only a difference of £ 22 in the case of the Ryzen 5 2600X and just £ 15 for the Ryzen 7 2700. The new sets MAX is a very good deal, as the Wraith Max cooler alone sells for £ 50.72 at Amazon UK.
AMD tells us that MAX processor packages will soon be available at Newegg, Amazon and Microcenter. We will follow up with more price information as soon as they are available
