AMD's $ 55 new Athlon chip targets PC builders on budget

The new Athlon 200GE chip will arrive later this month. It integrates both AMD's Zen architecture and Radeon Vega graphics, which makes it capable of playing certain games in 720p.

AMD is targeting PC builders with a new Athlon processor that will cost only $ 55.

The Athlon 200GE will pack both your computer and your games graphic needs on a single chip. The product incorporates AMD Zen's core architecture, which is also used in Ryzen chips, as well as Radeon Vega integrated graphics.

The Athlon 200GE is also able to play some online games in 720p, but often at low settings. The company proposed performance tests that showed that the chip was running DOTA 2 at 65 frames per second and Overwatch at 59 frames per second.

Meanwhile, Fortnite arrived at 49 FPS. In comparison with the Intel Pentium G450, this can represent up to 84% increase in performance.

AMD also claims that the new chip is effective for day-to-day tasks such as word processing, web browsing and video conferencing. The Athlon 220GE will arrive at retailers on September 18th. You can integrate the chip into the AM4 socket motherboards.
