Video: Uh-oh: the battery of your iPhone does not stop with wireless charging
It haunts me every day.
I could not talk to friends about it even though my wife noticed and started asking me if I had any problems, you know.
I can only talk about it publicly now because of two converging snippets of rumors.
The first says that the Apple AirPower charger could arrive in September. (Or, you know, a little while soon.)

The second states that Cupertino could finally put his owner Lightning port to a halt.
For so long, Apple has told us what a wonder the Lightning system was and how it works perfectly with, well, dongles and profit margins. And now, it could come back to something other manufacturers are using, like USB-C?
What is it? My problem? Oh, yes, sorry. I thank you for the care.
It was like this: I bought a new iPhone 6 a few years ago, and it worked pretty well. Until that, that is to say, he showed erratic behavior when charging.
Sometimes it would cost. Sometimes that would not be the case. And sometimes, it charges for a few minutes, and then stops.
I brought it to an Apple store, which naturally diagnosed that the port had enjoyed the water, and the phone was now useless. So, I replaced it with another iPhone 6.
Everything went well until the charging scheme was repeated. After a few months, the new iPhone 6 was more mercurial than government policy. It was as if a child was pulling my tongue and laughing in the face, as his was dribbling.
My natural course of action is to blame myself. But I could not determine what I was doing wrong.
Sharging Lessons, Apple Style
So, I went back to the Apple store.
I explained my problem to an Apple Genius. I even showed him by plugging my iPhone 6 into a Lightning store.
"There is your problem," said the genie.
"Yes, it does not charge."
The Genie looked at me as if I had demonstrated the intelligence of a vole in a state of drunkenness.
And then the words that haunt me since: "You're wrong."
I was lost for syllables.
Before I could even find something guttural, the Genius grabbed my phone and started a demo.
"Look, you are too aggressive," he said.
Then he placed the charging cable pin on the very edge of the Lightning port. He gave a slight push and left.
The phone pretended to charge a little, then stopped.
"Yeah, you've destroyed the inside," says the Genie.
"What, why, how?" I asked, a too pleading contact.

"You're too aggressive, these ports were not designed to be jostled, it's a delicate process," he said.
Then, he released his own iPhone and, with the precision of a watchmaker, he showed me.
"Pin on the edge, then slide."
I thought I saw. I knew that I was being seen.
But what should I do now? Why, replace my phone, of course. The vole may not have been drunk, but it was still a vole.
I thanked the genie with a horrible mix of gratitude and apologies.
After the lesson, hope. Then, the tragedy.
I had now a new iPhone 6, two years after its release. Well, the iPhone 7 was not exactly a 007 gauge gadget, is not it?
I took my new iPhone 6 back home – my third iPhone 6 – and I was determined not to fall into old habits.
I started performing the gentle maneuver of genius. After all, he had to do it several times before leaving the store. Everything went well.
Until a year ago. Suddenly, and you will not believe it, the phone started to be as erratic as the previous songs.
If it's not over. Sometimes he would not be charged. But, if I've plugged the Lightning cable pin, it's happily consistent.
Until sometimes, no.
I have a tendency to stubbornness. That would not defeat me. And, occasionally, this is not the case. The phone charges at the first insertion. If this is not the case, a little help on the spindle can make it work.
At any other time, however, it does not matter whether I turn the pin or not. It does not matter if I straight up the cable, lay it flat, or buzz the plainsong of Chaucer's time. Or even buy a new cable.
I can hear you scream that I should go down into a bottomless hole. Or, failing that, update. And, of course, despite my long delay and my battles against fates, I'm sure I'll either get an iPhone X or wait for his first and second cousins to arrive soon.
My wife started laughing at me, of course. She is an owner of Samsung Galaxy. She says that's the people's phone. However, I'm sure that she does not use the sweet pin-on-the-edge technical.

And so I continue to complain about my lack of lightning-charging smoothness, hoping that charging my next phone will be easier than my last three.
There is, however, an elbow with my story: I have two iPads. I have never had a problem loading them.
