Okay Cool recently interviewed Andrew Collins of Nintendo of Canada. There, Collins discussed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. At one point, the interview turned to the reception of Waluigi's exclusion from the list of characters, as well as reactions to King K. Rool confirmed as a playable character. Here is the discussion they had on the subject in its entirety:
Riley: * laughs * Agreement, agree. What did you think of receiving Waluigi being excluded? Because it took me by surprise and I am a big smash fan. I mean, obviously the Washington Post article was satire, it was comical …
Andrew: I think it's great when something is built naturally because, you know, as a distributor, when you have something viral like that, it's great. You can not buy that. You can not create it. And when the fans do something like that, it's amazing. But it's so good to see from a passionate point of view. And let's face it, it's funny.
Riley: D & # 39; agreement! Have you seen the thank you letter to Sakurai to include King K. Rool?
Andrew: I did it, yes.
Riley: What did you think of that?
Andrew: I thought it was sweet. That's fine when … every developer receives letters and emails and I think that as a developer – when I was a developer and I was working now – we work long hours. And that's not supposed to be about us, but when you see something from fans who say how much they like what you do … it's great. You know, I love going to a gaming store the day they went out and watching people pick it up and buy it. It's really satisfying. I've loved this since I've done magazines, and that justifies all those hard hours and the long hours you spend on knowing what you've created or helped do something that gives people people this particular moment.
