The sophisticated features of the iPhone X might soon find themselves on the rest of Apple's smartphone range.
Apple CEO Tim Cook is expected to announce a new series of iPhone Xs Wednesday at the Steve Jobs Theater of the company, in Cupertino, California. The company unveils the latest version of its iPhone every fall, before the holiday season.
Here is what to expect from Wednesday 's event. We will report live from the campus-shaped spaceship of Apple with all the details.
IPhone Xs updated
Apple's flagship product, the iPhone X, could be a minor upgrade this year, but the company could extend its key design elements to a range of phones – with names that look like confusing clothing sizes.
It is planned to remove the physical home button and the fingerprint sensor on the new iPhones and replace it with quick gestures and face detection technology of the iPhone X. As with this device $ 9.99 edges.
According to reports from Bloomberg and 9to5Mac, who claim to have leaked photos of new devices, the updated model of Apple will be called iPhone XS. The device could look like its predecessor, but includes internal enhancements, such as a faster processor and an updated camera, as is usually the case with the "S" updates in the course of the year.
The company may also choose a broader option: a 6.8-inch device that predicts 9to5Mac will be called iPhone XS Max, thus killing the "Plus" label previously used.
For iPhone buyers worried about their budget, Apple should bring some of the features of the signature X for its cheaper phones, as well as new colors. The 6.1-inch iPhone would also feature an edge-to-edge screen and a face ID, the face detection security feature that replaces a fingerprint sensor . It could also include an OLED screen.
Experts believe that these features will increase the price of the new iPhone line.
"Do not expect revolutionary new features but a smart repositioning around an improved iPhone X, allowing Apple to increase the average selling price of its smartphone range," said Thomas Husson, analyst at Forrester.
While the high-end smartphone market leaves little room for a dramatic increase in sales volume – After all, the existing iPhone X costs $ 999 – Apple can maintain its market share and slightly increase the average selling price of iPhones, says Husson. An iPhone XS Plus will probably cost more.
Watch part
The Apple Watch is 3 years old and is ready for a light refresh. We will probably see a new hardware design, but it will not be too different, according to the photos obtained by 9to5Mac. The new models will probably still work with existing accessories.
The analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the screens of the watch will have larger screens. We can also see edge-to-edge displays, much like the design of the iPhone X.
Flight time
Last year, Apple had previewed a charging mat called AirPower, but it never mentioned it again. The flat white oval charges the iPhone, the Apple Watch and the AirPods at the same time without having to plug them in. But the device has not been shipped yet. Apple could finally announce the launch of the gadget in stores.
Apple can also introduce new AirPods, the wireless headset stored in a self-loading dental floss box. The AirPods have been ridiculed by some because their clumsy appearance debuted 2 years ago, but is a hit with consumers. The upgrade may include increased battery life, a hands-free Siri feature, and waterproofing.
Odds, ends and buttons
In June, Apple previewed its next generation software, Mac OS Mojave and iOS 12, which includes Memoji, the FaceTime group and a tool to track your obsession with your iPhone. We will probably learn when the software will be deployed on the devices and where we may have an overview of the surprise feature.
Other possibilities include a new iPad Pro, a closer look at the new Apple Park campus and Tim Cook's political commentary. Of course, there is always the possibility of a "something else" shocking, but the real shocks are not easy for Apple.
