In his report last week, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo admitted that the demand for pre-orders for the iPhone XR was lower than the interest observed in September for the year. iPhone XS and XS Max. But, according to Jun Zhang, of Rosenblatt Securities, these "weak pre-orders" have resulted in sales of 9 million units during the first weekend of the iPhone XR.

This number may seem awesome for many but Zhang was expecting Apple to sell 10 million units instead. For this reason, he decided to reduce his production estimates for the quarter from 90 million to 88 million. In addition, it is now expected that Apple will slow down the production of iPhone by 3 million units in November and December. Of these, 2 million per month will be iPhone XR units, the remaining millions being iPhone XS and XS Max units.
Due to the higher cost of the iPhone XS and iPhone XR series, the analyst reports an increase in Apple's average selling price of 8% to 10% in the quarter ending December 31, 2018. This increase iPad Pro and the update of MacBooks could help Apple to generate up to $ 91.2 billion during this period, which would be an absolute record for the company.
Jun Zhang is considered one of the least optimistic analysts for Apple. But despite the sales forecast of only 77 million units for the quarter – Ming-Chi Kuo expects to 83 million units -, it seems to be agreed that the last quarter of 2018 could be huge for Apple.
