Apple today launched the tvOS 12 Golden Master (GM) version to developers after a multi-month beta test that allowed the company to release 10 TVOS 12 beta. The master of gold represents the final version of tvOS 12 which will be released to the public on Monday 17 September.

Designed for fourth- and fourth-generation Apple TVs, the beta version of the tvOS 12 developer can be downloaded to the Apple TV using a profile installed via Xcode. Later versions can be downloaded via the software update mechanism on the Apple TV.

To get the public beta of tvOS 12, go to the Apple TV Settings app and go to the Software Updates section under "System." "Get Public Beta Updates" should be activated, and once this is done, Apple TV will download the beta software.

In tvOS 12, Aerial Screensaver includes for the first time location information and new screensavers have been captured in collaboration with the International Space Station.
