Apple should not announce new Beats products at Wednesday's event

In recent months, rumors have provided insight into what was expected of Apple's special event on Wednesday. Now we can know at least one category that will not see any step tomorrow.

The edge, quoting a source close to the situation, reports that Apple is not planning to announce any new material from its Beats subsidiary during its "Gather Round" event at Steve Jobs Theater on Wednesday. The only new headphones expected are an updated pair of AirPods with support for "Hey Siri".

If the report is accurate, it means that Apple fans should keep their expectations out of the way for any new Beats headphones, or that a cheaper HomePod comes in the form of a Siri-compliant Beats speaker.

Apple acquired Beats for $ 3 billion in 2014 and since then, the company has regularly updated the range of helmets. However, it has not yet done so in 2018. The current lineup revolves around the Beats Solo3, Powerbeats3 and BeatsX, launched in 2016 with Apple's W1 chip for easy pairing.

Beats also launched Studio3 in-ear headphones with the W1 chip in 2017, followed by urBeats 3 with a Lightning connector, but for the most part, the helmet range has been obsolete for almost two years.

With so many rumored products in the Apple pipeline until the end of the year, it's hardly surprising that Beats never saw a scene at the September event. The keynote should be based around new iPhones, Apple Watch Series 4 models, new AirPods and availability of AirPower charging mats.

It's unclear when Beats can be updated next. Apple certainly has enough for an October event, it holds up to then new iPad Pro models with Face ID and a wide range of new Macs, and maybe there's could also appear in some Beats ads. Or, a simple press release would do the trick.

According to a rumor, Apple's high-end high-end headphones would have been launched in the fourth quarter of 2018, said analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple could certainly unveil the headphones tomorrow, even if we did not hear anything particular.
