While holiday shopping is starting to peak, the Thinknum data company is now publishing an interesting overview of the growing popularity of Apple TV 4K over the last few weeks. According to Thinknum data, which is based on the Best Buy sales ranking, Apple TV is now near the Amazon Fire TV stick in terms of sales.

Sales ranking data shows that Amazon is the undisputed leader in 4K streaming devices, with the $ 34.99 4K Fire Stick Stick, which ranks first in the charts. The next on the list is the Apple TV model 4K 32GB, despite its price significantly higher at $ 179.99. The Roku Premiere 4K, at $ 39.99, completes the rankings.

Perhaps most interestingly, the Apple TV 4K has seen a dramatic increase in its popularity over the past year, far surpassing the much more affordable devices of Roku and Google. The Apple TV has struggled to get adopted by the general public, largely because of its high price, but since the introduction of the 4K model last year, things seem to change :

This was not always the case. In fact, the Apple TV 4K has been on the market for just over a year. As the graph above shows, when zooming out, the 4K race was a fluctuating affair. But now, with the latest device revisions and the 4K TV market penetration, it seems that sales are deepening in the direction of Apple.

Earlier in the day, a report suggested that Apple had "considered" to launch a more affordable streaming stick to compete with Amazon and Roku. In addition, offering a similar experience to the Apple TV in a more affordable package would help foster the adoption of Apple's next streaming TV service.
