Apparently, Apple is considering new ways to extend the reach of its next original TV show, via The Information. The report says Apple is playing with the idea of making a cheap television dongle similar to Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV stick.
If this idea materializes, it would represent a significant reshuffle of its TV decoder offering, as its current Apple TV lineup is anything but "economical".

Apple introduced the tvOS-based Apple TV in 2015 priced at $ 149. In 2017, he released the Apple TV 4K. Rather than lowering the price of the previous generation, he simply added the Apple TV 4K to $ 179 and kept the 2015 model aging at the same price level.
