Apple's first iPhone 5G could be released in 2020: report

Mobile operators are gearing up for 5G connectivity, the next generation of cellular networks that promises to deliver faster download speeds to consumers. Equipment manufacturers are also preparing. Plans are already underway for a number of devices that will benefit from these faster networks. A new report suggests that Apple will launch its 5G phone in 2020.

Last year, the FCC allowed Apple to experiment with 5G technology, laying the foundation for a 5G phone. A report in Quick business quotes "an informed source of the projects of Apple", which announced that the phone would be marketed in 2020. The report also states that the company plans to use the Intel 8161 5G modem chip, to be solved. Apple would also have discussed with MediaTek to provide the chips as "Plan B."

Apple is currently using Intel for the modems of its 2018 phone lineup, but it would not intend to use the company's Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chips for the 2020 model because Apple could be the "volume driver" "main" of his modem.
