Apple's iPhone XS is superb, but the iPhone you already own is brand new, BGR

And the timing of this year's new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR is particularly brilliant. The iPhone XS and XS Max will be launched on schedule next Friday, but the iPhone XR will not be available before the end of October. Or maybe Apple's executives are smart enough to know that many early adopters who want the latest iPhones as soon as they are available will now opt for a ridiculously expensive XS or XS Max model, instead of waiting for the month next an iPhone XR a little more affordable. .

The performance of the benchmark tests is barely better than last year's iPhone X and iPhone 8, and there are no exciting new features to discover. This is a first for an "S" upgrade, because Apple is generally catching up by reusing the same hardware design by introducing new innovative and exciting features such as Siri, Touch ID and 3D Touch. The new iPhone XS has nothing like it.

The big change in 2018 is a larger version of the phone with a 6.5-inch OLED display called iPhone XS Max. It starts at $ 1,100 and rises to more than $ 1,500 after taxes for the 512 GB model. It does not offer new innovations, but its screen is much wider than that of the iPhone XS 5.8 inches.

For those who already have an iPhone X, there is virtually no reason to upgrade to an iPhone XS. If you want a bigger screen, the iPhone XS Max is a perfect upgrade. Otherwise, the performance and camera enhancements of the iPhone XS certainly do not guarantee an expense of $ 1,400.

Having the best smartphones available is part of my job, and the 5.8-inch Apple phones are the size perfect for me., but I have no interest in going back to a phone that is basically the same size as the older models of Apple, which are way too big for most people to be able to use with one hand.

If you have a phone other than an iPhone X – and this includes the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus – then the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max are bets phenomenal level. Even so, you might want to wait before pulling the trigger on a pre-order. Why? Because Apple's new iOS 12 software will be available to the public early next week, your phone will become brand new.

Despite the problems of iOS 11, Apple's iOS updates make phones always cooler, but iOS 12 is completely different. Due to all the problems faced by Apple with iOS 11, iOS 12 focuses primarily on improving performance as opposed to new flashy features. And believe me when I tell you, it succeeds. The upgrade from iOS 11 to iOS 12 is amazing, with improvements in speed and overall performance that will make you lose your head. Once the initial reindexing and background tasks done, which can take up to a day, you will be shocked by the fluidity of your iPhone.

But wait, there is more … your battery life will improve too! iOS 12 offers tons of optimizations for better use of resources. And the best part is that there is not a single iPhone model that is obsoleted by iOS 12. In other words, if you have an iPhone that can run iOS 11, it is also compatible with iOS 12. Even the iPhone 5s from 2013 can run iOS 12.

Because the iPhone XS is all about performance improvement and does not offer new, innovative features, it's not as appealing as other new iPhones. If you were waiting for a phone with the iPhone X design and a larger screen, then of course the iPhone XS Max is a different story. If not, install iOS 12 on your current iPhone next week and do it for a few days. You will be shocked to see how awesome it is.
