Assignments are functionally quests in Battlefield Vand can be as simple as doing a number of damage with one type of weapon and as complicated as doing multiple class tasks. You can track a few assignments on the break screen at any time, but you may want to see more of them than you are currently viewing. To do this, you must pause the game, scroll through the list and click on the assignments menu.
In a Reddit thread titled "DO NOT Check Assignments in the Middle of the Game, It's Possible Your Game Stops", players shared their stories of a strange glitch that hangs Battlefield V when you look at the assignments menu while playing a game. It's not more complicated than that. Apparently, there is a chance that this will happen for a certain percentage of the population.
I have personally had this little problem twice when I play on the Xbox One, once in Conquest game mode and once playing Deathmatch. I had assumed that my launch console had been there for years and was struggling with the new game, but apparently, something happens to players on all the platforms on which the game was launched.
The second time was particularly terrifying because, for some reason, the game began to make a sharp scream until the console closed. Battlefield V. It was strange.
Having this happen is a bit of a hassle. A player must leave the game one way or another, raise it and return to a match. On my Xbox One, you have four or five minutes to reboot and connect to a new server. It is not pleasant.
So, if you play Battlefield V, perhaps only check your assignments in the main menu. Hope this will be resolved soon in a patch.
