The Bentley Bentayga set a new record for production SUVs at Pikes Peak.

Double champion Rhys Millen climbed the mountain in 10: 49.9, climbing nearly 5,000 verticals and 12.42 miles with 156 corners at an average speed of 66.5 mph.

The luxury SUV has reduced by almost two minutes the previous record set five years ago by Paul Dallenbach in a Range Rover Sport.

"What an incredible machine," said Millen. "Taking a luxury SUV with a minimum of modifications and being able to drive this course in less than 11 minutes is a huge testament to the performance and engineering level of the Bentayga."

The SUV has received "minimal" modifications, including racing seats, a protective cage and a fire extinguishing system. Bentley chose the best tires in the Pirelli DOT range.

To celebrate the record, the company creates a batch of 10 Pikes Peak Bentayga Special Edition vehicles.
