I was pretty excited when I learned that Black Ops 4 would not have paid the booty boxes, opting instead for a Fortnitelike "Contraband Stream" that would unlock the cosmetics just to play.

The game will also have a store in the game where you can buy items with real money via Call of Duty points. It's also much better than the loot boxes of RNG. (Read all about the new progression system here.)

But here's the problem: the progression from one level to another in the flow of contraband is incredibly slow, painful and excruciatingly slow. As far as I know, it's more related to play time than performance. So, the longer you play, the higher you level up and win a new loot. This is a terrible way to implement progression, slow or fast. This causes players to connect and not just play to get to the next level (and players design all kinds of clever and clever ways to play in a game like this.)

Instead of just spending time, the smuggling group needs daily and weekly challenges or bonuses that you can complete in order to level up, just like Fortnite.

Whatever the case may be, the progression is much too slow. There are 200 levels to unlock in Operation First Strike in just over 50 days, but you will have the chance to unlock 50 by playing regularly. It's after that Treyarch has updated the smuggling progress system. I'm not saying that it should be easy to have all the levels, but you should feel like you are going somewhere.

By the way, I just want to say that, for now, I'm not very excited about the cosmetics specialist we've seen. I receive the Dia de los Muertos theme and I do not hate it, but I miss the less flashy / cartoony skins we had in a game like Call Of Duty: Ghosts. I enjoyed all the uniforms from last year Call Of Duty: Second World War Also, even though I hated the chests. Black Ops 4, as Black Ops 3, feels oversaturated and a bit clumsy. I would just like that there are some interesting options for the specialists to look more realistic and more standard.

But that's another story for another time. I contacted Treyarch to try to better understand how the progression works behind the scenes and will update if I heard it.

What are you doing with the current of contraband until now? Let me know about Twitter or Facebook.
