"Blackout" feels more like PUBG than Call Of Duty

Black Ops 4Royal's "Blackout" battle mode feels a lot like Call of Dutybut mostly feels like playing on one of theseFortnite Royal battle games.

The closed beta of Blackout was launched today on PlayStation 4 and continues until September 17th. Call of DutyThe first attempt at a royal battle currently only reaches 80 players per game, against Battlefields of PlayerUnknown or Fortnite100 players, but it's still quite similar – it's a frenetic and fast experience.

Blackout starts the players in a helicopter placed on a random route. Players fall on the map with a combination of wings to navigate the descent and eventually deploy a parachute to land. It's a pretty classic thing for the royal battle genre, but the wing combination is nice.

The fans of call of Duty Black Ops The series will notice several familiar multiplayer map locations such as Firing Range, a snowless version of Array, Turbine, Cargo Docks and a truly destroyed version of Nuketown. These places are also filled with many iconic weapons of the series, including a version of the ICR rifle.

Even the Zombies mode pistol is there, not to mention the zombies! Fortunately, the undead are limited to certain zombie-themed card slots. Although I'm glad I can not run everywhere, I think there could be even more zombies on these specific sites to spice things up. Apparently, it's possible that the circle is getting close to one of the spooky places to force you into the royal finale of your nightmares, even though it has not happened to me yet.

Speaking of the classic battle circle, shrinking more and more, the explanation of the Blackout scenario is that the circle is surrounded by the Nova Gas, which invades the map and reduces the security zone, forcing players to s & # 's 39; face. until there is a winner. Do not worry though, this Nova Gas is not the thick, yellow-green smoke you've been expecting, and the view is pretty clear even if you get lost in the funk. It's pretty mild with regard to lethal toxic gases.

Until now, with over a dozen solo and duet matches under my belt, my Blackout experience has been enjoyable. I played Call of Duty for over ten years and can handle multiplayer, but my first game of Blackout seemed to be my first panic-driven trip. Battlefields of PlayerUnknown as I rushed for a gun. I fell in Turbine a little Black Ops II nostalgia, and I heard other players running around me and opening other doors, but the first two buildings I was looking for contained only attachments, bandages and benefits. No gun. I did not survive very long.

Blackout also brings Call of Duty consumables style. In addition to traditional health consumables, benefits can be obtained, but they are not permanent as they would be in multiplayer. The benefits are a very limited consumable, and there seems to be a decent variety of useful abilities. Dead Silence temporarily reduces the sound of your footsteps, while Skulker lets you move faster when you're lying down or squatting.

Survive the "Nova Gas" circle.

One of my biggest problems with Blackout right now is the initial search for survival. Royal battle games usually consist of finding the right weapons and equipment quickly, otherwise you will probably die quickly. Right now in Blackout, it takes too much time to read the names of the elements and grab them. You have to long press for picking up objects, so the process of pulling a gun and armor may seem like an eternity. It often seems that the time you need to hold Square is inconsistent. Sometimes I took things quickly and other times, the action was really slow.

Although the search for loot is a frantic chore, the vehicles behave very well. ATVs can make a quick getaway, or players feeling brave enough to make a lot of noise (or really desperate to overtake the Nova Gas) can cross the map via a Little Bird helicopter, a Zodiac inflatable boat or a cargo truck. And if you wanted to know if you could honk on vehicles: yes, you can.

The beta version of Blackout is relatively fluid in terms of frame rate, handling and overall gameplay. I've heard complaints about lower frame rates and graphics from players using a standard PlayStation 4 console, but my Blackout experience has been excellent on the PS4 Pro.

Overall, Blackout definitely brings the royal fighting atmosphere that people expect, while giving off some nostalgia for Call of Duty fans by packing the map with popular locations and weapon choices from the Secret operations series. In terms of the royal battle genre, Fortnite Always wears the crown, but I have a hard time comparing it to its competitors. Fortnite nowhere thanks to the creation by Epic Games of a very cute and colorful world with a unique combat system. However, Blackout exists for all players who want a more realistic alternative. Given my first impressions of the beta, Blackout could move away from many players H1Z1, PUBG, or any other nonFortnite Royal battle game.

The closed beta version of Blackout starts on September 14 for Xbox One. However, the beta version of the PC will receive early access on September 14 and an open beta will be available the next day. The beta version of Blackout will end on September 17 on all platforms and Black Ops 4 will be launched on October 12th.
