Blizzard launches a beta test for Overwatch World Cup Viewer, a bit of technology that will allow viewers to follow the next Overwatch World Cup via the Battle.net client, giving them access to all of the camera tools previously reserved for professional users. Overwatch League. sports observers. This means that viewers will be able to control the camera, switch between the first person and the third person and choose the view of the player to watch.

It's good. Several months ago, I stated that I was disappointed by the command center of the Overwatch League All Access Pass, which offered other angles of view in the game and some statistics in real time, but did not allow the viewer to fully control the camera. The Overwatch League broadcast team tracks very well the fast action of the OWL matches, but sometimes I just want to follow a specific player throughout the match or watch only from the tanks' point of view. With the new OWWC viewer, I will finally be able to do exactly that.

The Overwatch game director, Jeff Kaplan, said that by beta testing these viewing tools at the Overwatch World Cup, viewers are helping to test a technology that the OW team is hoping for. bring to "all platforms and types of matches". The obvious implication here is that these tools will be deployed for the second season of the Overwatch League, just as the OWWC introduced for the first time the game-specific color schemes that were later used during the inaugural season of OWL.

But perhaps even more exciting is that the technology allows players to watch reruns of their own games, a feature that Overwatch desperately needs. According to Kaplan, that's the plan.

"By testing the beta version of the Overwatch World Cup Viewer, it allows us to work on technology that will one day allow us to offer these features to Overwatch, both on PC and on console, not only in the esports settings, but we as individuals, "Kaplan said. "Can you imagine going to watch one of your own games later, but be able to place the camera where you want it, in this replay view? We think it would be really amazing."

At first, OWWC Viewer will only be available on PC using a special version of the Overwatch client. The initial version of the tools will allow viewers to watch live games via the game client and view reruns of previous games.

The developer's update also indicated that the Overwatch team would not announce a new card to the BlizzCon this year, as it has done in the past with Oasis and Blizzard World. He mentioned that there will always be "amazing announcements" that, almost certainly, mean a new hero.

Finally, Kaplan mentioned that the next Overwatch patch would contain improvements for Mercy, Roadhog, Reaper and Symmetra.
