BlizzCon is now just around the corner on November 2, and fans have been hyping themselves up to a frenzy over what Blizzard has been hinting is big Diablo News.

But fans may be a little too hyped for DiabloBlizzard has now come out with a new blog post that says "temper your expectations, the thing you really want is not ready to be shown yet."

That "thing" would be Diablo 4, a true sequel to the smash-hit Diablo 3. Blizzard has said that they have multiple Diablo projects in the works, but may be shown at BlizzCon, it appears the "big" one will not be.

"These are very exciting times," the statement reads. "We currently have multiple teams working on different Diablo projects and we can not wait to tell you all about them. . . when the time is right. We know what you are hoping for and we can only say that "good things come to those who wait," but evil things often take longer. We appreciate your patience as our team work tirelessly to create nightmarish worthy experiences of the Lord of Terror. "

Other potential projects we Could see are a Diablo mobile title, a Diablo 1-2 remaster and we've heard about a Netflix show, but Diablo 4 is not going to make it's debut. I mean, I could not be surprised if Blizzard at least throws up a title screen for it or something, but it's pretty clear that we will not see this year's game.

With AAA games showing themselves closer to release lately, we still might see Diablo 4 in 2019 even if Blizzard does not want to show it now, but Insert your "Hell walks the earth" jokes in reference to the 2020 presidential election here.

Personally, I do not mind. Sure, I was excited to be able to lay eyes on Diablo 4 in a couple weeks, but it's not ready, it's not ready. I do remember when Diablo 3 Blizzard has been shown to be too bright and colorful, so they can be seen to avoid it by keeping it under wraps.

Given that Diablo 4 is certainly a game I'm going to sink ever running 12 characters across console and PC), so sure, I'll wait. I am hoping that Diablo 4 can launch without the endless plague of issues that hurt Diablo 3 at launch, be the technical problems (Error 37) or tail tail corruption (the Auction House). Then again I hoped Destiny 2 was going to learn from all Destiny 1'S mistakes, and we all know how that went.

This whole blog post, a wink and nod about "we know what you're hoping for" is Diablo 4, rather than some Diablo MMO going in a wildly different direction for the series which some were predicting. I do wonder how Blizzard is going to inject this game, because you know they have to try, but Diablo is stubbornly resistant to post-launch monetization in any way other than expansions (as it should be). Hopefully that does not become an issue.

So, stay tuned I guess, both to whatever we see at BlizzCon, but also what 2019 adds.
