Blizzard fans have much to look forward to in the coming weeks, with the developer's annual BlizzCon event, which begins Nov. 2. Like every year, the company will make announcements for its biggest games, including World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Diablo. This news began circulating on Friday after a Internal business interview about the publication next month of Diablo III: Eternal Collection for the Nintendo switch. A Blizzard representative reportedly indicated at the point of sale that he was already working on the cross-game support between the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. In addition to declaring that discussions were ongoing with Sony and Microsoft, the Blizzard representative reportedly stated that Diablo III cross play was "a question of when, not if."
Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case at all. Blizzard issued a statement to a number of outlets stating that the news reported was false.
"Although we like the idea of bringing our players together on multiple platforms, we do not plan to set up a multi-platform game for Diablo yet."
It is unclear whether the Blizzard representative in the interview spoke incorrectly or whether Internal business just confused their information. The developer has previously indicated that he has a number of Diablo projects in progress, and with BlizzCon approaching the announcement of a cross-play feature. Especially with a number of great games with cross-platform support, such as Fortnite, Rocket League, and Minecraft.
