Blizzard president leaves office, but players have good news

It's a day of big changes for Blizzard, as Mike Morhaime announced that he was retiring from his role as president of the company. Morhaime has been part of Blizzard since the beginning. He is a co-founder of the company alongside Allen Adham and Frank Pearce. Blizzard has had a lot of success with Morhaime at the helm, so it can be considered the end of an era for society.

Morhaime will not leave the company entirely as he will continue to serve as Blizzard's advisor. J. Allen Brack, formerly Executive Producer and Executive Vice President of World of Warcraft, will serve as President of Blizzard. He has also put great names on his management team.

In a message to fans written by Brack and posted on the Blizzard website, he states that Ray Gresko has become Blizzard's development manager, while Blizzard founder Allen Adham will also join the management team. Brack says including that Adham will continue "to oversee the development of several new games" in his new role.

Yesterday again, we learned that Diablo will probably make at least one big announcement at the BlizzCon next month, so we have to ask ourselves if Diablo 4 is one of the titles that Adham currently oversees. With Adham occupying a prominent position on Blizzard's management team, it is possible that the company will return to franchises that have not seen a new release in a while – perhaps StarCraft 3 or a good WarCraft strategy game will take place with Adham and Brack at the helm? What is in store is really a guess.

Anyway, it will certainly be interesting to watch. The BlizzCon 2018 probably reserves a few surprises. We will be watching the show closely to see if Blizzard is announcing new games in existing franchises or entirely new IP addresses. Stay tuned.
