Surprisingly enough, the BMW X2 was one of the most important dividing factors our office in recent memory. Granted, most of the controversy revolves around the placement of this C-pillar badge, but the X2 base has not always been as exciting as something that carries a roundel.
Do not confuse the M35i with a set of appearance. Most of the changes happen under the skin of the crossover.

BMW could have a solution to this, with the new X2 M35i announced on Thursday. While the X2 base needs to roll with only 228 horsepower to get around its weight, the M35i gets a high-powered version of BMW's 2.0-liter TwinPower turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces more than 300 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. torque at only 1,750 rpm. This new mill coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission means that the sprint at 60 miles at the hour takes just under 5 seconds.
With M Sport differing at both ends, faster steering and more power, the X2 M35i should be an explosion on winding roads.

One will also note the inclusion not only of a BMW M Sport rear differential at the rear, but for the first time, of a M Sport differential for the front axle. This should mean that the X2 M35i will be more alive on a winding road than a standard XDrive car.
As might be expected, BMW is also sprinkling its suspension and M-not-not-M brakes on the X2, again helping to make the small crossover fun to drive. The suspension is stiffer and lower and includes different rear lower suspension arms. An adaptive version of this suspension will be an option.
