Cliff Bleszinski made himself known during his stint at Epic including Unreal, Gears of War and, never forget, Jackrabbit Jazz. After 20 years with the company, he left in 2012 but returned to creating games in 2014 with the shooter of the arena LawBreakers.
It was good, it was unfortunately not enough to make it a success. After a last effort to catch up with the battle of the Royal Battle in a game called Radical Heights, Bleszinski closed his Boss Key Productions studio earlier in the year.
It's hard to restrain a wise man, especially a man obviously invested in the video game industry like Bleszinski, and I said in May that I did not doubt that he would come back in the trade One day. Yesterday, however, Bleszinski showed me the opposite.
I paid my employees, their 401ks and their health care – even months after the studio closed. They were able to take care of their families. I did not receive a salary myself for two years. I understand you're sad, but damn it, that kind of shit is another reason I NEVER do another game. https://t.co/RtS7l5WcAlNovember 15, 2018
The tweet came in response to a seemingly unhappy "fan" not getting a refund on LawBreakers. Not surprisingly, the exchange generated more heat on Twitter, thanks in part to Bleszinski going back and forth with LawBreakers senior animator Zach Lowery, later described by Bleszinski as "ribs. "
I still suspect that Bleszinski could do another game one day, and he does not turn his back completely on the industry, saying in another tweet that he "will never stop being a developer advocate". But it is clear that he is in no hurry to bounce back against Boss Key, and under the circumstances, I would say that it's hard to blame him.
