SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A local family has an epic story of comic-con to tell, filled with heroes and a happy ending.
In the middle of Saturday afternoon, Shannon and her family were on a pedicab. her friend and her friend's daughter are also on board.
Due to delivery in a few weeks, Shannon, who lives in downtown, decided to check out the festivities.
Just off Harbor Drive while she was coming out of the pedicab, her water was broken. "I've been surprisingly very calm," Shannon said.
Shannon quickly told her husband Matt, who was not so calm. "It's immediately like what to do now … look where we are," Matt says.
Where – was a sea of people barely moving. The rickshaw driver arrested a police officer who found an ambulance nearby
A photo taken by his friend shows Shannon holding her ginger tea and smiling, minutes after her water broke.
That, so why not? It's going to happen, it's going to happen, you have to go, "says Shannon.
Shortly after, a cell phone video shows the ambulance who runs away with Shannon, after the police have helped to clear a path.
Remarkably, there was only 10 minutes left before she left in this ambulance. The next morning she gave birth to a healthy little boy named Reign.
"It's actually a good thing that this happened where it happened," said Shannon.
Because of downtown traffic jams, Shannon thinks she's arrived to the hospital faster than with his own car. As for the rickshaw driver – now a good friend – the family gave him his Comic-Con Pass.
